now you know.

.

do you ever get yourself into situations where all you do is think about what you need to do, and thinking about what you need to do is all the farther you get? you actually never even get around to doing the things you've spent vast quantities of time thinking about doing. you just think. i need to do that. i should probably do it this way. i need to do that, too. but after i do that first thing. i want to do this first though. but don't forget to do that first thing. what was that first thing? i need to do that. but after i remember what i should have done in the first place.

that, my friends, is exactly how november until now has gone in regards to this blog. i've spent a lot of time thinking about writing on this; a lot of time thinking about the clever things i could post if only i had the time (thinking about what you want to do and how you want to do it is a lot less time consuming than actually doing it in real life). i realize now that you cannot read my thoughts - and if you can, please stop - so i will have to break the cycle and stop thinking about what i want to write and just write it.

i decided to call this blog 'the wild canary' because the state bird of iowa is the gold finch, or as it's known to the more learned - the wild canary. it's a cute, delicate bird that has a pretty song and is a fair representation of the state in which i was born and now reside. plus it flies, and if i could have any super power it would be the ability to fly. so now you know the story behind the title.

fact: originally i wanted to post a picture of a canary with a photo-shopped tattoo on it so my blog would have a mascot (i wanted the tattoo to say 'wild' - get it?). it turned out to be a long, tedious project so i put it on the proverbial backburner and just went with the lemons.

i've shared enough secrets for now. thanks for stopping by and be sure to visit some links before you go.
